Family and friends mourn the passing of Mary C. Mitchell, who left us on July 10, 2008, while recovering from a long illness.
Mary was born and raised in northern New Jersey. She was a full-time homemaker when her children were young, and the family lived in New Jersey, California and Missouri. She later pursued a career in real estate and retail.
She settled in Daytona Beach in 1986, returning to a place which held fond memories from visits during her high school years. She was active in her community, particularly the city's Beachside Neighborhood Watch program, and was someone her neighbors at the Halifax River Club and other friends could always count upon to lend a helping hand. She was a popular and loyal employee at Pelican Bay and Spruce Creek Fly-In, where she never missed a day of work.
Mary had a unique gift for befriending people, and a sincere concern for the welfare of others, which made her widely respected and appreciated. She deeply loved her sons, cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children. She dearly missed her sisters and parents, who preceded her in death, and has finally taken her leave to be with them once again.
